An honest read on what cover you actually need
I don't hold an insurance licence and don't sell policies, which means I have nothing to gain from recommending more cover than you need, or less.
Request a free discovery sessionInsurance decisions are usually made under pressure, from an adviser with a policy to sell, at the exact moment you’re least equipped to evaluate it clearly. As part of a Holistic Financial Review, I’ll assess what cover actually fits your circumstances and your dependants, independent of any commission.
Where cover genuinely is the right call, there are two routes. You can apply directly with an insurer online, and I explain how the process works. If your situation is more complex, such as health history, business cover or replacing an existing policy, I refer you to a licensed broker partner for personal insurance advice. I don’t take a commission or referral fee either way.
Buying directly means no broker manages your policy or a claim for you. If that is a risk in your situation, I’ll tell you, and the broker route is the right one.
Common questions
Should I buy insurance directly or through a broker?
Buying direct can cost less and suits straightforward situations, but no broker manages the policy or helps at claim time. With health history, business cover or a policy replacement, a licensed broker is usually the better route. MoneyPlan will tell you which fits.
Do you receive commission on insurance?
No. Neither MoneyPlan nor Luis receives commission, referral payments or incentives from insurers or broker partners.
Do I need to give health details?
Not to MoneyPlan. Health details are only shared with an insurer or broker when you apply.
Fees are fixed and published on the Packages page. See a full sample Statement of Advice, or read how much a financial adviser costs in NZ.
